About the Librarian

Maci Shannon

I’ve always found books bring me joy,  and you’ll often find me in the middle of reading 2-3 books and listening to a different audiobook at the same time! I love getting book recommendations from students and have discovered some of my all-time favorite books that way.  I am also passionate about technology integration and 21st-century learning, and have presented at several conferences on those topics.

I hold a Bachelor's degree from McMurry University, a Master's degree from Baylor University, and my school librarian certification from the University of North Texas.

I've taught grades 2-5 as well as technology applications. I previously taught in Eanes ISD, where I was the district educator of the year in 2018. 

As a school librarian, I strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment that promotes a love of learning and encourages critical thinking.

 

Siempre me han encantado los libros — ¡me traen mucha alegría! Casi siempre estoy leyendo dos o tres libros a la vez y, además, escuchando un audiolibro diferente. Me encanta cuando los estudiantes me recomiendan libros; de hecho, gracias a ellos he descubierto algunos de mis favoritos de todos los tiempos.

También me apasiona la integración de la tecnología y el aprendizaje del siglo XXI. He tenido la oportunidad de presentar en varias conferencias sobre estos temas, lo cual ha sido una experiencia increíble.

Tengo una licenciatura de McMurry University, una maestría de Baylor University y la certificación como bibliotecaria escolar de la University of North Texas.

He enseñado desde segundo hasta quinto grado, además de clases de tecnología. Antes trabajé en Eanes ISD, donde fui reconocida como Educadora del Año del distrito en 2018.

Como bibliotecaria escolar, mi meta es crear un espacio acogedor e inclusivo donde todos los estudiantes se sientan bienvenidos, desarrollen el amor por el aprendizaje y aprendan a pensar de forma crítica.
